Art has been the touchstone of my life since I was a very young child. It is
the lens through which i see the world. When i am not creating something, i
am usually either thinking about art, looking at art, or reading about art. . .it is
the one constant in my life. I have travelled extensively throughout this
country and have lived in many beautiful places... Big Sur... Santa Cruz...
Mendocino... Santa Barbara... Key West... Morro Bay... Taos, New
Mexico... Arizona... Humboldt... & Maui, among others. I draw much of my
inspiration from the beauty of nature, and from the magic and the mystery of
the world around us.

The great masters of the past were the innovators of
their day... and while I have been awed and inspired by
what they accomplished I am more influenced by the
great living masters of today, both known and unknown...
It is a very exciting time in the art world... the digital age
has facilitated a sense of global community and
communication among artists that wasn't possible in the
past. There are more artists working in more diverse
ways than ever before... and the internet has allowed a
sharing of ideas, methods & materials that has resulted
in a new renaissance in the world of art.
What is the value of Art ? It doesn't feed the hungry... or house the
homeless... or heal the sick... that is not the task of the artist. Artwork is
not so tangible... the work of the artist is to enrich the soul... to touch the
spirit... & to open a window to a part of the world that might otherwise go
unrecognized. Art is not just for the elite and wealthy... Art is for
everyone and it is everywhere, & it can give wings to a poor man's spirit just
as easily as it can to a rich man's. Art adds the color & and music to an
otherwise drab and generic world. The ability to create in such endlessly
diverse ways is what sets us apart from the rest of the creatures of the
earth. In the world that I live in, Art is possibly even more basic than
food, shelter or even good health... for I have been both hungry &
homeless and felt my spirit lifted and set to flight by simply standing
before a great work of art. Humans have been creating art since the first
cave dweller picked up a piece of charcoal and began to draw out his view
of the world on the walls of his cave. The need to express ourselves
creatively was born with us... It is as fundamental as our need to breathe.
My greatest hope, is that through my efforts i might leave behind
something that inspires someone... uplifts someone... touches someone's
soul... & has the same depth of meaning that other artist's work has had
for me.
Art is , to me, a fascinating exploration into a constantly changing world.
I approach each new piece with a feeling of what i want to create , more
than a clear picture... the details reveal themselves along the way. I feel
that each painting more or less creates itself... I'm just the guy that gets
to hold the brush. The vision is revealed to me just as mysteriously as it
is to a passive observer. It is an amazing and captivating world and I am
fortunate enough to have a front row seat.
