CURRENT WORK
Abstract  art  is,  to  me,  the  most  challenging  &  in  a  way,  the  purest
type  of  painting.    It  utilizes  all  of  the  same  elements  that
representational  art  does...  composition... color...  value...  light  &
shadow...  movement  &  passion.    It  is  more  challenging  because  there
is  no  "picture"  that  is  the  goal...  the  end  result  is  not
predetermined...  it  is  purely  a  journey  towards  the  unknown.
Abstract  art  seems  to  be  a  bit
intimidating  to  some  people...   they
think  they  are  suppose  to  understand
what  it  means...  it's  much  like  listening
to  a  piece  of  instrumental  music...  it
can  transport  the  listener  through  a
whole range of feelings  without  the
need  to  understand  the  intention  of
the  composer....  &  that  is,  to  me,  the
power  of  abstract  painting...  because
the  mind  has  nothing  recognizable  to
grab  onto,  it  goes  right  past  the
thought  process  and  touches  you
emotionally...  without necessarily  even
being  able  to  say  why....  I  think  if  a
piece  of  art  needs  an  explanation  to
be  appreciated,  then  the  artist  has
missed  something.
